J. R. “Hank” Kidwell, P.E.

Mr. Kidwell is a registered environmental engineer with over 25 years of experience in the conception, design, permitting, and construction administration of major water and wastewater facilities. His professional affiliations include the American Waterworks Association and the Water Environment Federation. His community responsibilities include over 15 years of service on the City of Austin’s Impact Fee Advisory Committee, and his professional writing has included contributions on such varied topics as fluoride removal in small water systems, contaminant release in uranium in situ mining, corrosion protection in potable water systems, and the anaerobic digestion of farm waste.

Mr. Kidwell’s design experience includes pump stations, lift stations, water and wastewater treatment plants, and large diameter water and wastewater lines. As a project manager and design engineer he is responsible for the civil and mechanical aspects of the design as well as coordination with ancillary disciplines which may include geotechnical, structural, electrical, and communication engineering. His work has included innovative solutions to existing system-wide problems involving complex hydraulic conditions, physical and chemical treatment concerns, and regulatory compliance issues, and includes environmental and aesthetic components as appropriate to reflect the location of the project and the desires of the client.

Mr. Kidwell holds Bachelor degrees in Mathematics from Southern Methodist University and Engineering Science from the University of Texas at Austin and a Master of Science degree in Environmental Health Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.
